The “Hospitale”, founded in 1599 for orphaned girls on the initiative of Bishop Bascapè and Costanza Avogadro, moved to its present-day site in 1627.
It also includes a church completed in 1650.
Original furnishings that still remain include the marble altar (1753) with neoclassical tabernacle (1832) and a wooden statue of St. Lucy (1783).
